Palisades Wind Garden

Above Pacific Coast Highway sits an architectural home with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean from Long Beach harbor to the Sunset Boulevard surf break. The rigorous building form and organized spaces called for connection to the wild hillsides above. We planted a selection of native grasses to evoke the nature of the ocean as they rustle and shimmer in the constant sea breeze. Annual wild lupines, poppies and yarrow provide contrast with a sense of seasonality to the unchanging rigid building and sterile lawn.
